** Job Title: Educational Services Provider (Contract) **

Our new interdisciplinary clinic, Aligned Paths, is looking to grow! Aligned Paths Counselling, Educational and Trauma services is expanding! We initially started off as a counselling business, primarily serving neurodivergent, queer/trans* and BIPOC adults. Due to heavy demand from our clients, we are adding a new department: tutoring & academic coaching.
We are beginning the selection process for new tutors and academic coaches, to be a part of our tutor database, and to grow with us!
Are you looking for a job where you can
-Work remotely
-Set your own hours
-Share your skills & knowledge
-& be yourself?
We are looking for people who can tutor, at any level of school (kindergarten to graduate school), and who have experience working with neurodivergent people, in an educational setting.
As we are focused on working with neurodivergent clients, and we especially welcome applications from people who are neurodivergent! (Self-identified is fine!)
Many of our clients are queer, trans/nonbinary, BIPOC, or otherwise from underserved groups, so we especially welcome applicants from these groups.
If you are interested in joining our team, please reach out! We would be happy to hear from you.
Please send a resume to welcome@aligned-paths.com (no cover letter needed - we will cover this content, in the interview), and brief answers to the following questions:
1. What is your experience in working with people with ADHD or ASD?
2. What are your hours of availability?
3. When would you be able to start?
4. Which subjects, and grade levels, are you comfortable teaching? Or, are you looking to be an academic coach?
5. What is the highest level of education you have completed?
Note, we will review applications from people with no formal experience, on a case-by-case basis. If you do not have any formal experience, we welcome a description of why you think you would be well-suited for this role.
Please note that this is a contract job, and while it is possible - in the long term - for work with us to grow significantly (possibly, enough to meet 20+ h/week), right now, we are just starting out; it is reasonable to expect a few clients a week, and this is not a job you can use to expect to replace regular full/part-time income. Instead, it's something you along with your other responsibilities, and work into your schedule. Additionally, this job is intended to be accessible for people with disabilities, who need something a bit more flexible and online.
Note that, to prevent any conflict of interests, we are unable to accept applications from anyone who is a former or current client of Sam Fischer, at Aligned Paths. Thank you in advance, for understanding!

Are You New to Providing Educational Services?
Rate - $22-38.50/hour
Location - remote
requirements - you must be a BC tax resident
Are you curious about teaching but not sure where to start?
Do you have skills, experience, or knowledge you’d love to share — even if you’ve never taught before?
At Aligned Paths, we believe that everyone has something meaningful to offer. We welcome new educators who are excited to explore teaching as a path, even if they’re still finding their footing. This opportunity is ideal for people who want to learn by doing, experiment with their teaching style, and grow through real experience.
Beginner Educator Role
As a Beginner Educator, you’ll be able to offer educational sessions to students who understand that you’re new to this work — and who receive a reduced rate in return. This creates a space for honest learning: you get to try things out, refine your approach, and develop confidence, while students benefit from affordable, flexible learning.
This is a self-directed experience, not a training or mentorship program. You’ll be responsible for your own growth, reflection, and progress, but you won’t be alone. We provide access to free, external learning resources (including materials on working with ADHD and ASD), as well as optional, paid support through our Educational Specialists if you’d like professional guidance as you grow. You’ll also be invited to attend our free educator community meetings (held every six weeks), as an observer, which may help you progress in your growth.
Requirements to Progress
To move forward from the Beginner Educator category and begin offering sessions through our regular listings, you’ll need to complete:
- 100 hours of Beginner Educator experience at Aligned Paths
- 20 hours of professional development in one-on-one education (10 must focus on ADHD/ASD; free options provided)
- 3 reviewed teaching sessions, observed by an educator with 7+ years’ experience (may be paid if arranged through Aligned Paths)
- 10 student feedback forms (discussed at 80 hours)
- Overall positive student reviews
Qualifications
To qualify, you must:
- Have lived or professional experience with ADHD and/or ASD
- Demonstrate transferable skills — from childcare, healthcare, service industries, training, or other people-oriented work
- Demonstrate curiosity and growth-mindedness
- Have sufficient mastery of the subject(s) you wish to teach (typically one level higher than what you want to teach — e.g., high school completion to teach middle school)
Note: We are not currently accepting Beginner Educators for non-academic subjects (music, dance, coding, etc.). Experienced educators in these areas are welcome to apply through the Educational Services Provider pathway.
Students of Beginner Educators
Students working with Beginner Educators receive lessons at reduced rates in exchange for contributing short, constructive feedback at the end of each session (5–10 minutes per hour). This supports both the educator’s growth and the student’s learning experience.
To Apply
Please email your answers to the following questions, to welcome@aligned-paths.com. We also require a resume, but not a cover letter! We hope this simplifies the process for you, while also allowing us to collect the information we need to assess your application.
-
What subjects or academic areas are you interested in teaching, and what experience (formal or informal) do you have with them?
-
Have you worked with or have lived experience with ADHD, ASD, or other neurodivergent learners? Please describe briefly.
-
Why are you interested in teaching as a Beginner Educator, and what do you hope to gain from this experience?
-
Describe a situation where you had to learn something new on the job or figure things out independently. How did you approach it?
